Kate French produced a perfectly timed burst in the pentathlon run to add to cycling pair’s gold, before Team GB picked up two silvers and a bronze on the track

Kate French came back from 15 seconds down in the final event of the modern pentathlon to claim Team GB‘s 18th gold of the Tokyo Olympics.

Meanwhile in the Olympic Stadium Laura Muir claimed a brilliant silver medal in the 1500m while the men’s and women’s British 4x100m relay teams claimed silver and bronze respectively.

There was also success for Team GB on the cycling track, where Laura Kenny claimed her fifth Olympic title and Jack Carlin his second medal of the Games with bronze in the team sprint.
